In the World of Social Media, pictures, friends and “likes” are becoming more and more important.  Connections are not only made to be in contact with others but to build up a social community which can give you support on your success in social networks.

How can you build up your own social community on Instagram?

1. The Power of Likes

Like as many pictures as you can and follow many people with your same interests. As soon as you break the ice with a kind like on other profiles they will start to check your account and reply back.

2. Show some interests!
Ask a question in the caption of your post and create a buzz under your picture. Posts which end with a question give the chance to your followers to share they own thoughts.

“How was your day?” , “Do you like my outfit?”, “What do you think about it?” … and the comments flow has just started.

3. Quality beats quantity
Don’t share random photos of you and even don’t do it all day. If you want to build up a succesful social community, you need to keep in mind that quality is way more important than quantity. You want to look professional on social networks as well, right?

Then create your posts prudentially!

4. Use tools to get the most out of Instagram

You are able to find many applications which help you to manage your account like a Pro. There is one called Piqora which helps you to see which kind of photos are the most successful on the platform. After you realize what pictures your followers are interested about, the only thing you need to do is upload more of them.

Another application, called Latergramme which is also very useful. Creating great posts and pictures take so much time every day. This app helps you to schedule your post some days before the publication. What a good one, right? In this way, you have time to make posts some days before just in case you are busy.

5. Tell a story

Use an image and tell a story with it.

Why is that picture important for you? What happened during the shoot?

Create some emotional backgrounds for your picture and let your followers get to know you a bit more.

6. Apply to #FFSocial15

Modelmanagement.com provides you the chance not only to show off with your picture but win! Fresh Faces Social Instagram contest is back! The only thing you need to do is add #FFSocial15 to your Instagram picture and you are already a probable winner for the Premium Unlimited Model Membership and an article about you on our blog! Make sure you are also part of our Fresh Faces 2015 contest, as it’s a requirement!

Get more exposure and let’s network together. Make some cross voting during the contest and get some more followers!

Instagram can be only a platform to keep in contact with your friends but you need to keep in mind that it is also an effective way to promote your interests and drive your talent all the way up to success.
Use it in the right way!

One of the many highlights of a modeling career is the chance to showcase a designer’s new collection on the runway. If you’ve never stepped foot on the ‘catwalk’, it can be a daunting thing… taking to a long stage, in front of hundreds of people and flashing cameras all focused on you… Let’s face it it doesn’t always go to plan even for the experienced model, we’ve all seen the snaps and videos! Though walking is something you’ve been doing since you were a child, the runway walk is an art form in itself. The models you see today have put a lot of time and dedication into perfecting their walk, fortunately,  you’ve got us to help you prepare for your debut runway appearance!

Perfect posture is a must. Stepping onto the runway with strong posture is key to a great walk. Slouching is a no-no, you’re there to proudly show off the collection you’re wearing so stand upright with your shoulders held slightly back and your chin slightly downwards. Just like when you pose in a photo shoot, keep some tension in your body, every inch of you needs to be engaged in this walk not just your feet!

Attitude and personality equal runway success: Presenting with a bit of attitude is another of the key pillars of the runway. When you step onto the runway, focus on one spot ahead of you and don’t lose your gaze. You should always be focused on the job at hand. If you channel a bit of sass and attitude, you’ll feel confident and the walk will follow suit! Let your personality shine through, that’s the real key to a unique walk, and importantly enjoy yourself, soon enough you’ll have everyone staring in awe.

The actual walk: Take long strides as you walk, ensuring to place each foot in a line in front of the other. Larger strides project confidence and this is exactly what all successful models have lots of. For female models, this style of walk will automatically make your hips swing giving that bit of extra attitude and sexiness as you strut your stuff! Designers often give guidance to how they want models to act, so pay attention and go for it!

It’s in the rhythm: Keep the pace of your strides as similar as possible as this will help improve the look of your walk, allowing it to flow more naturally. Runway shows almost always play music, so use the beat to your advantage. Embracing the beat will make you walk the runway with purpose and confidence. Remember this is fun and the career you want so embrace the attention of the crowd!

Practice, practice, practice! Like with many things, practicing your runway walk will make it less nerve-racking on the day. All you need is a full-length mirror at home and an array of heels in which to strut your stuff. Watch how you hold yourself and even get friends to critique your walk. Runways are renowned for crazy heels, so it’s a good idea to try many shapes, sizes and styles at home to become comfortable and confident in any kind of high-heel. Make sure to continue to practice each day, afterall practice makes perfect!

Social Media is a very powerful tool for models, and in most cases it’s even essential, not to say…vital! Professional such as photographers and modeling agencies are very active in social media and often use social networks such as Facebook to scout models!

Therefore, being a social media model is something quite important. We’ve heard stories about models that got famous thanks to social media, such as Tatiana Marinescu, who has been featured in magazine covers and campaigns.

Are YOU willing to have your own Facebook fan page? Looking for some useful tips to make your fan page successful? Well… you are reading the right post! Just follow those simple steps and you will be closer to social media success. Let the world know you are out there!

1. Description

The description you include in your fan page is very important! What should you include?

ModelManagement.com model profile
– Website (if you have one)
– Your other social media links (if any)
– Your latest work including some links (if any)
– Information about yourself
– Your email address

Industry professionals that visit your profile will for sure have a read!

If you’ve just started in the modeling industry, don’t worry! Add your ModelManagement.com profile and a short description about yourself!

2. Cover Picture

When people visit your fan page the first thing they see is your Cover Picture, even before they see your profile picture or the content in it. So use a very cool and catchy picture of yourself! If possible, change this image once a week for one of your latest shoots or campaigns. Of course, you should also include a cool and current Profile Picture, but you don’t have to change this one that often.

3. Posts

Now that you are all set you should start posting before you invite people to your facebook page, it’s better to have some content first!

Images and Text

All your posts must be very visual! Share your modeling pictures with a two line description to tell people about them. But be careful! You should keep the text short, long texts are usually not read. You can always share a link so your fans can visit your model profile or site.

Hashtags

Hashtags are very important! You should include a few in your post, using the most common ones such as #model, #modeling, #tbt, #portrait etc. You can also come up with your own hashtag!

If you have the possibility to mention someone in your picture, do so! For example, if you have a model shot taken by a photographer mention him in the text and tag him in the picture!

4. Get Fans

Now that you’ve shared some content on your fan page you can invite your friends! On the bottom part of your cover image you will find three dots “…”, click on it and you will find the “Invite Friends…” option.  Invite them all! You can also ask your friends to share your page or one of your posts to help you gain more views, shares, likes and fans!

Include your new facebook fan page on your ModelManagement.com profile, it’s a great way to make agencies, industry professionals and photographers know you are active on social media!

5. What and When to Post

Now that you have some content, a great cover picture and some fans you have to keep your page active!

a) You should post 2 or 3 times a day.

b) You can also post pictures from your daily life, not everything has to be related to your modeling career, your fans also want to know what you do!

–   Today you are wearing a great style? Share it with your fans!

–   Are you in a fashion show? Your fans will love to see what you are seeing!

–  Want to thank your fans for their support? Do so!

–   Are you in a photo shoot? Share backstage pictures!

6. Facebook Groups

Apart from being active on your own Facebook fan page, you should also be posting content on other Facebook pages such as Facebook group! You will find tonnes of Modeling Groups where you can share your fan page and meet other models! You just have to do a search on Facebook!

We hope these tips were useful for you. Now it’s time to be active and successful!

Our modeling community is for all types of models, including fashion models, plus size models, alternative models, senior models and the list goes on. Check out these top tips on how to make your model profile look awesome and more importantly attractive to agencies, photographers and clients who are looking to work with a model.

1. Good quality photos

It is not a secret that photographers, agencies and clients, first of all, notice the quality of the pictures. Try to avoid uploading photos made on your phone. If you have a camera or your friend owns one, do not hesitate to use it! One of the easiest ways to do it is to shoot a natural look and use daylight. Choose a plain background, perhaps a wall or a landscape and keep it simple. Important fact to remember, the minimum requirement of uploaded photos on ModelManagement.com is three.

2. Clear photo of your face

Photos in sunglasses or where you have turned your face away from the camera, makes it impossible to see you properly, which is crucial for the person watching the photo. Instead, take a simple portrait of yourself looking directly at the camera.

3. Avoid Selfies or Snapchat filters

Industry members who check your profile do not take selfies or Snapchat filters seriously, so it is better to leave those for your social media accounts.

4. Group shots can be confusing for the client or photographer

Photos with groups of friends is a nice idea, but not when you are a model! Try to upload photos only of yourself, as it makes it easier for people to see exactly the kind of model you are and looks more professional.

5. Night photography

Try to avoid night photography pictures where the light is low, as it is difficult to see how you will look on a real shoot. Daylight photos or studio lighting (if you have shot with a professional photographer) is always the best option!

6. Polaroid

polaroid-example

Polaroids are a classic industry standard for agents and photographers to see how you look without make-up, hair styling and Photoshop. Try to find a plain wall as background and do a neutral face and a pose.

7. Connect your profile to Instagram

Everybody loves looking at models on Instagram and with our community you get the benefit of showing your model photos professionally on your profile and also your daily feed from Instagram all in one place!

That’s it! Now your profile will look attractive and will give you the best chance of being hired. If you need model photos from a professional photographer, be sure to keep your eye on our castings pages, where great photographers are regularly offering TFP (Trade For Prints) shoots. These are joint collaborations between a model and a photographer, where the photographer may try out new techniques with the camera or lighting in exchange for your time as a model, and you get some great photos at the end… a win, win!

Good luck with making your modeling profile look great!

If you are not yet a newcomer or a professional model member of our modeling community, why not join now, it’s free to create your profile and to start applying to model castings.

[:en]Have you ever wondered why photographers get upset with models during a fashion show?

There can be several reasons and if you didn’t have the opportunity to walk the runway at a fashion show, you should read these tips!

Most models already did mistakes and are unaware of it. I’m not going to talk about models falling down in the middle of the catwalk, some high-heels are freakish, some catwalks are slippery, some dresses are too long.

Model falling in a catwalk

Accidents happen and nobody should blame the model for that.

But there are a few things you should know before you step on the catwalk to ensure that you will get the best possible press exposure.

This post will tell you what you need to know to make sure that the pictures the photographers will take of you will be published in magazines, newspapers and press agencies.

The best method to ensure you end up with amazing pictures and great memories is by following these tips:

Pay attention to the rehearsal

Some fashion shows have complicated paths with crossings, turns, and angles. It’s not uncommon that models get lost in the middle of the show! If a model skips a photo podium, she won’t have pictures and photographers will be furious!

Know where the photographer’s podium is

During the rehearsal make sure to see where the photographer’s podium is. Some shows have 2 or 3 podiums. Remember where they are.

If you ignore the photographers, they will still try to call you but there is a chance that pictures of you won’t get published.

Walk in the light

During the rehearsal check if you are walking in the light. If you walk in the shadow, the photos will be dark and might not be salvageable.

Concentrate on your eyes!

Doing the walk looking down or blinking your eyes too much won’t get you published anywhere.

Models in a catwalk

Walk with the rhythm

Every show has a different rhythm. You have to walk the runway at the same speed as the other models. If you are too fast or too slow you will cause problems!

Keep your distance

You have to maintain the same distance from the model in front of you at all times! If you come too close, photographers won’t be able to photograph you! If you stay too far behind you might block the model behind you.

This is the most common mistake models do at fashion shows! And if photographers can’t see you, you won’t have pictures!

Be patient

During fashion shows, photographers can have a process. They can, for example, start first with full-length pictures, and then half-length, details and finish with beauty close-ups.

If the model turns or stops for the pose too far or too close it can mess up the photos.

It’s all about the timing

At some fashion shows, models have to do a stop in front of the photographers. During the rehearsal, someone from the production will tell the models how long the stop should take.

Sometimes the pose should last only 2 seconds and in some cases, it can last 5 seconds. Don’t rush but also don’t overstay your welcome.

If you are too fast, photographers won’t have time to focus and take the picture they need, and if you stay too long you might block the next model.

Have you been in this situation before? How was your experience?

After introducing you to  Bogdan the male winner of Fresh Faces 2013, its now time to reveal the responsible Model Agency for his matchless success: The prestigious MRA Models Agency from Romania.

MRA is not only Romania’s very first model agency but has also developed itself to a very big name; as one of the internationally market-leading agencies in the model business. Founded in 1992 by former model Liviu Ionescu, the agency established itself as a talent bench for top models like Simona Haraga, Elena Baguci, Catrinel Menghia, Alexandra Sandor and many more. MRA Models is, with over 20 years of experience, more than skilled in hunting new faces. Launching the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest, this agency was right from the start more than engaged to develop new models and is now also involved in Romania’s Next Topmodel. Most recently, MRA Models discovered the next big model talent who’s already paved his way into a very auspicious model career: Bogdan.

BogdanBlog1
Bogdan, Fresh Faces 2013 World Finals winner

Discovered at the Fresh Faces Romania 2013 Finals in Bucharest,  MRA Models put Bogdan under their big wings and made him slap-bang win the Fresh Faces World Finals 2013 in Barcelona, representing Romania as one of 40 competing countries. We had a very pleasant chat with Liviu Ionescu about his agency and his view on Fresh Faces 2013. Read here what MRA owner Liviu reveals us about famous MRA Models and their plans for our newcomer Bogdan:

Modelmanagement: What does it mean to you as an agency to win the Fresh Faces  2013 World Finals with your model?

Liviu Ionescu: I hope this prize will motivate other young male and female aspirants to start a modeling career through our agency.

BogdanLiviu1
MRA owner Liviu and Fresh Faces 2013 winner Bogdan

MM: How was the experience of participating in a modeling contest together with other modelling agencies from around the world?

LI: We used to hold the license of Ford Supermodel of the World modeling contest for more than 10 years between 1995 – 2006 and I know this kind of competition can give the participating agencies many opportunities as finding your talents and meet other agencies like a modeling convention.

MM: What does a model need in order to have to become one of the New Faces of your agency?

LI: Being strong enough to start an international career.

MM: What struck you the most of your model when you discovered Bogdan during the local contest?

LI: First the face and after the body.

BogdanBlog2
Bogdan, Fresh Faces 2013 World Finals winner

MM: How did you coach your model Bogdan for the Fresh Faces 2013 Grand Finals? What was the main advice you gave to Bogdan before leaving to Barcelona?

LI: Photo tests and many castings in our agency. Being themselves.

Bogdan by photographer Ansgar Werrelmann

MM: Which importance do you as an agency assign to the Fresh Faces Modeling contest by Modelmanagement.com? How important are new faces in your agency?

LI: I signed up for this contest because I believe the online scouting will be the future tool of our industry. New faces are vital for any agency in the world, not only ours.

MM: What career developments do you expect for newcomer models, after winning an international contest such as Fresh Faces?

LI: They’re more motivated than ever, but that can be risky as well because they have to fight strongly for any option or job as any other model. We received many request for Bogdan after the finals from agencies that wish to represent him on their markets.

A fairytale in the model business was started by Bogdan at the Fresh Faces Grand Finals by modelmanagement.com in the enigmatic W-Hotel in Barcelona. The 15th of October 2013 was the date which gave birth to this rising star. Chosen out of thousands of model applicants from all over the world, Bogdan came to Barcelona supported by the renowned agency MRA Models to represent Romania at the Fresh Faces 2013 World Finals.

The young aspiring model won the jury over by his spellbinding beauty and his luminous attitude, proving his natural talent on the catwalk as well as in the photoshoots. The astonishing fact is, that the Fresh Faces Contest was Bogdan‘s very first model contest, the perfect first step into the model business! By blowing everybody away with his very first professional model performance ever, this young natural talent definitely proved to be the Fresh Face 2013!

But hear more of this fabulous success from the lucky winner himself:

ModelManagement: Why did you decide to take part in the Fresh Faces Contest? How did you find out about Fresh Faces?
Bogdan Ionut: I’ve heard about the Fresh Faces Contest from the promotion that the MRA Agency made, from TV, from the flyers that we have received in highschool. The agency has organized casting sessions around the country and that is how I have decided to take part in one of these casting sessions because I wanted to start a modeling career. I was very happy that I have won this casting. I have to thank Mr Liviu Ionescu for that because he had faith in me and encouraged me a lot.

MM: What does it mean to you to be the winner of Fresh Faces 2013? How do you think, it will influence your model career?
BI: Winning this contest proved that I have made the correct choice by choosing this career. I really think that I have made myself more aware and more ambitious to prove myself and the others that I have all the necessary qualities to succeed.

BO5

MM :What do you think, was the crucial factor for your success in winning the Fresh Faces award?
BI: I think I owe my success first to my attitude and to the way I adapt myself to the rules and the needs of the contest, and, last but not least, I love what I do.

MM: How did you prepare at home for the Fresh Faces 2013 Grand Finals in Barcelona?
BI: I have made some shooting tests, but I have never had a catwalk presentation so far, until this contest.

MM: How did you experience the days in Barcelona, how helpful was the coaching here for you?
BI: I have been in Barcelona for the first time and I really liked the city as much as I could see. The team has helped me a lot, encouraging me and providing precious advice in aspects where I was behaving like a freshman.

MM: How did you experience the organization and the program of the whole event?
BI: I really can’t make a comparison, but I felt really well, the programme was really busy, but very well organized.

MM: And how have you been welcomed back home as the Fresh Faces winner? What were the reactions of friends and family?
BI: I was expected at the airport by my sister who was really proud of me, and then we went to the agency where I was expected by everybody, they all congratulated me and I felt everyone really happy and pleased with my accomplishment.

MM: It was your very first model contest, how did it feel to win? Were you nervous about opening the Fashion Show?
BI: It was indeed my first contest, I was very nervous when they announced the first three final nominees, and I was one of them. At the moment they announced the winner, it took me some seconds to realize that I won the contest. I am very pleased and happy both for myself and the MRA agency who is representing me, but mostly for Romania.

MM: As Fresh Faces 2013 Winner, what tips and advice do you give to all the thousands of aspiring models wanting to be part of Fresh Faces 2014?
BI: I don’t really know if I’m the best person to give advice, I don’t have enough experience to do that, but due to this contest, I think that being serious, ambitious and punctual is the best way to prove that you’re being yourself. I would advise the boys and the girls who want a modeling career to trust themselves and take a chance!

A Very big congrats to Bogdan for having won this edition of Fresh Faces, and also a big congrats to MRA Model Management who scouted this top model in the making!
