Being a photographer is much more than just taking pictures with a camera. When you are a photographer, you are an entrepreneur and you run a business. So, as much as you enjoy photography, of course, you need to make sure that you make revenue to cover your expenses. Stop asking yourself “how can I make money as a photographer” and keep reading.

How to make revenue as a photographer

One of the initial points that needs to be covered when you start being a professional photographer is how you’re going to make money. You have to think about it as a company that offers a service. For this reason, it’s important you define your product [type of photography you offer] and your niche, so you can identify possible customers. Here we give you 5 ideas on how to make money with your pictures.

1. Stock photography

Stock photography is one of the most popular ways to make money as a photographer. And even though it sounds as a simple type of photography, there are many different types inside of it, such as food, travel, architecture, the medical industry, people, or others. You can start by signing up to stock photography agencies and submitting your portfolio. If you want to know more about stock photography, check this video series by William Perugini.

2. Events photography

Another common way to make money as a photographer is focusing on events photography. This includes weddings, events and parties. Events photographers usually work with a closed budget that considers working hours, final material to deliver and also location and dates.

3. Sell your photoshoots

If you’re still wondering “how can I make money as a photographer”, selling photoshoots can be a very good option. Depending on your photography style, you can offer specific sessions, such as “fashion photo shoot”, or more open so it can be discussed with the client. TIP: However, we recommend you to always be specific. That will help you stand out among other offers.

How to sell your photoshoots?

This might seem simple, but selling your photoshoots requires a strategy where you will also have to define the product, pricing and promotion strategy. Luckily, ModelManagement.com has launched a Marketplace, where photographers can easily post an offer and sell their products to over 1.5 million models and talents worldwide. Follow these steps:

  1. Describe your offer and choose a clear title.
  2. Write a short overview about your experience and maybe some interesting things that make your creative approach stand out from the rest.
  3. Always justify the price of the offer by adding detailed explanation of what will be the outcome of the collaboration.
  4.  Always ask models to leave reviews after the shoot is done. This helps to increase your rating, hence, your credibility.

4. Teach aspiring photographers

Creating photography courses and lessons for other photographers is also a good option to get extra revenue. Think about what you’re good at and what you can show to other photographers. You can start with basic courses for beginners, or more advanced courses, such as studio lighting. Lessons can be online or offline, you can choose the format that fits you better.

On our Marketplace, you can also sell your lessons to other photographers & creatives of the industry. Just choose “masterclass” when deciding the type of offer you create.

Extra tip: To create a competitive offer, you can also have a look at other photographers’ pricings.

5. Sell your Lightroom presets

Lightroom has become very popular among the Instagram community. Since the mobile version is free, an easy way to get extra revenue is creating presets and selling them to people who like your style. On ModelManagement.com, you can also create the offer. To send them to the client, you will have to export them in .LRTEMPLATE & .XMP format (for desktop) and DNG (for mobile).

Start making more revenue with your creative services by posting an offer on our Marketplace.

One of the most satisfying moments for creatives is when your work gets featured in magazines, but where to start? How do we know exactly if the magazine is interested in our concept? What is the process? Fashion photographer and ambassador Meri Sanz explains step by step how to submit photos to magazines. Keep reading!

Where to start

First of all, before submitting your photos to magazines, you need to create the concept and produce it. For this, it will be essential to decide on the idea, the photo style, the team you want to work with, and where you want to be featured. Here we gathered some tips:

  • Create an idea considering the type of magazine you want to be featured in. It is important that prior to shooting you have an idea or concept that you want to convey. I always like to review my photographic and artistic references and look at magazines that inspire me… For example, if I want to create something more alternative I would focus on magazines like Pap, WRPD, Sicky but if I want to shoot a more traditional style, I will check magazines like L’Officiel, Vanidad, Vogue.
  • Decide the photo style you want to achieve. Mark a stylistic line of how you want the shots to be, decide if you want to shoot in digital or analog, how you want the makeup and styling to be… Creating a mood board will help you to put all ideas together.
  • Choose your time wisely. Create a team of people who believe in your idea and want to transmit it. The whole team is important, from the makeup artist to the camera assistant. Everyone is important and part of the group and all the team will make your idea come true.

How to submit your editorial to magazines

Once you have the editorial created, edited, and ready to go, this is where perhaps the most complicated process begins. Where can I publish it?

#1 Gather information

The first step would be to get informed. Normally magazines submissions work by email, but on every website you will find a section to know if they can feature your work, what the requirements are, and how to get in touch with their art department. Some websites have already a submissions section, and for others, you will find it in the contact or about us.

#2 Create a PDF to present your work

To submit the pictures to magazines, you will most likely have to create a pdf, where you will need to place the photographs that you select for the publisher. I suggest you give it a special touch through the layout: Add a striking title, an introductory text (if you want to clarify the concept), and the team’s credits.

EXTRA TIP: I always try to make my PDFs look as if they were already laid out for a magazine so that the editor imagines my photos in his magazine. Choose between 2-4 photos per look, and add clothing credits under the caption of each look.

#3 Get in touch with the magazine

Once you have your PDF ready, it is time to get in touch with the magazine. For that, you will need to create a striking email that has the following sections:

  • Introduction. Who are you? They need to know about you as a professional.
  • Your project. Explain to them what your project is about, and why they should choose you to appear in their magazine, before others.
  • The team. Don’t forget to give credit to the team that carried out the session with you.
  • Don’t forget that if you want to be featured in a fashion magazine, including information about the clothes will be essential.  Talk about the fashion brands that appear on your editorial, always highlighting the best well-known or those that help your editorial stand out.
  • Attach your editorial PDF so they can see your work.

It is important the email you create is generic, but you customize it using the editor’s and magazine’s name.  Let them know that you took the time to write to them specifically.

Another tip that can be very useful is using the Kavyar platform. With it, you can opt for submissions in many magazines. On its website, you will find the requirements that each magazine asks you to get featured. It can be very useful to find interesting magazines and get your shootings to international magazines. The platform allows you to upload a number of pictures and give credits to the team. It’s nice because it keeps you updated about your submission status. Honestly, it is a very good platform to use if you want to be published in a magazine. It is like the Infojobs of fashion publishers!

After all this work, the hardest and, at the same time, easiest part comes. You will have to wait for your editorial to be accepted. This is everything you should know about how to submit photos to magazines. Fingers crossed and good luck!

Getting started in the fashion industry can seem complicated at times. It’s completely normal not knowing where to start, what you should know, how to create connections… Our ambassador and professional photographer Meri Sanz gathered 5 essential tips on how to become a fashion photographer. Keep reading!

Getting into fashion photography

1. Find references

When you want to become a fashion photographer, it is very important that you do your research. It is interesting to know who have been the great photographers in the history of fashion, the greatest fashion designers of the last times, successful movies that can inspire you, which are the top fashion magazines of the moment, etc. This is important because it all allows you to see what has been done, what has been the evolution of fashion over the years, what trends have been worn and why. It will also help you to see what you like the most and how you can incorporate it into your photographs. In order to create something new, we must take a look at the past.

2. Learn the vocabulary of the industry

Each discipline has its own terminology and colloquial jargon. It is very important that you know what terms are used in your field, how they refer to different concepts of the profession, concepts such as: Go see, Editorial, Test, Campaign, Briefing, Shooting, Setting… And many more concepts that you will learn little by little, but it is important that you know them, apply them and integrate them into your language.

3. Choose your discipline

This is one of the most important steps on how to become a fashion photographer. You have to have in mind that within fashion photography, there are different subjects, disciplines. We can find editorial photography, e-commerce, advertising campaigns, product or still life, and fashion shows.

From my point of view, it is key that you try everything you can. Only then, you will find out what you like, what you don’t like, and what you can incorporate into your work. You can move between all of them and have a wide photographic background and be multidisciplinary, or you can specialize only in one as a professional.

4. Create your personal style

I think one of the things that define an artist the most, whatever the field is, is their style. To find your own style, you must first try everything that crosses your mind, everything that generates curiosity in you, try it. Because you never know what might come out, and that’s wonderful. Experimentation is probably one of the keys to finding your style.

At this point, it will be very useful to have researched in photographic or cinematographic references, to know what look you want to give to your photographs.

5. Practice, practice, and practice

If you’re still wondering how to become a fashion photographer, there are no more secrets. Practice, test, make mistakes, and get it right. As I said before, you must play, try new things, be in constant learning and improvement. Only by doing this, you will be able to feel your process, your evolution, and your work. You can start doing test shoots with models. If you want to start now, create a casting for free on ModelManagement.com and start shooting!

How was life before COVID-19? Sometimes it’s hard to think about walking on the street without a mask, the freedom to travel wherever you want and even the possibility to meet with whomever you like. Without a doubt, Covid-19 has marked a before and after in the life of each and every citizen of the world and we see that influence in music, runways, and in photography as well.

Latest trends in photography

1. Authenticity.

After months of being locked up at home, authenticity now plays a very important role in everyone’s lives. That’s why we can say that it is one of the main photography trends of the season.

Everyday moments and human emotions without any filter are some of the topics that photographers are capturing this year.

 2. Outdoor Photography.

Breathing fresh air and enjoying nature is everyone’s desire. Since the pandemic has not allowed us to do so as much as we would like, we at least want to see it captured in photographs.

And at a time when all photographers are doing online shoots, outdoor photography has become a trend.

3. Togetherness.

After this situation of lockdown and social-distanced, we’ve learned to appreciate the small moments with our loved ones and enjoy the company of others. We missed our family, our friends… For that very reason, togetherness is in vogue.

4. Vertical photography.

Who doubts that vertical format is the king of 2021? With the TikTok boom during lockdown vertical has become even more popular.

Social networks have become the main platform to consume photography. This leads to the vertical format being the favorite of consumers and photographers alike.

5. Inclusivity.

Diversity and inclusiveness are deeply established in society. Now photographers, as well as brands, are looking for real people and models with diverse bodies and identities.

That is the reason why inclusivity has long been a trend in photography.

6. Blurred background.

This very rare pandemic situation has helped us to focus on the things that really matter.

Photography reflects society. So, blurring the backgrounds of photos to focus attention on what is important in the image is a trend that will continue over time.

We all know how exciting the days before a shoot can be, but have you ever left a shoot disappointed in some way because you felt it could have gone better than it did? You may look back at the photos and ponder if the lighting could have been brighter/darker or maybe the models could have posed differently. It’s a frustrating feeling that is why we’ve come up with a solution for you so you can use them for your upcoming shoots. In this post, we are going to give you some tips on how to prepare a photoshoot. Take note!

Make the most out of your photoshoot

Here are 4 ways on how to prepare a photoshoot and maximize each shoot you go on or have.

1. Scope out the location beforehand (if you can)

If you are wondering how to prepare a photoshoot and where to start, this is the best way to figure out where you plan to shoot. If you can’t physically go there, there are other options such as having someone from the team visit the spot and take pictures or video call. You can also take a look on Google maps and virtually walk around and pin the places you think are great so when you go there you already have the coordinates to share with everyone.

Because there are models from all around the world on our platform, you can easily carry out these options mentioned above. For example, you have a shoot in France but you won’t be there until the day of the shoot, what do you do? The model in France could check it out for you or a local photographer who sees the casting could help you out.

2. Preparation is key

how-to-prepare-a-photoshoot-2
Model Simon Raphael by Daniel Agudelo

This seems like a no-brainer but often spontaneous shoots are great but to truly get the most out of a shoot you need to plan most of it to a T. Have you tried meeting up with your art director/stylist or designer before the shoot? It can work tremendously to your advantage. Why should you take time out to do this? Because they can give you a different perspective on the shoot, they could inform you on what you’re missing or need on the day and they can most importantly help you on the order of shooting. Which outfit will we go with first? Which part of the location or props will we start with? When should we take a break?

3. Ask your team for suggestions

Whether it’s 2 hours or 7 hours shooting, it can be a little bit frustrating leaving the shoot with thoughts of “Oh we could have done this, or we should have taken advantage of that light or prop!” it’s not always a bad thing because you can use the experience as a lesson for your next shoot, but how do you avoid it? Immerse yourself in all the possibilities. As the photographer, you hold the responsibility to make sure that this vision is executed to a great degree, that also comes with a little bit (okay, a whole lot!) of pressure.

To avoid this, when you get a team together or collaborate with one of our models, you have the opportunity to get another perspective on the concept/idea like we mentioned before but this time the information you get is different because it will be about the story/narrative. How does the model(s) view the character that they’ll be playing in front of the camera? Is there another theme that the make-up artist or stylist gets from the mood board that could be cool to play around with? Does the model have any ideas they would like to contribute?

At the end of the day, getting all of this information is important and as the photographer, you can choose to pass on it, incorporate it or embellish it!

4. Getting full coverage

It’s important that you capture a wide shot, mid-shot, and close-ups on the day of the shooting as well as high-angle, low-angle shots. This is important so that you and the team have a range of photos to showcase on your portfolio or for a campaign/editorial. Depending on your style of photography, if you’re a beauty photographer we know that close-ups are a must but you can go as wide as showing the whole face if you dare to.

Let’s say in this case you’re a fashion photographer and you’re wondering why this tip matters? It’s to save yourself later when submitting to magazines. Imagine you come back from an amazing shoot, out in the desert during sunset and you forgot to take a wide shot. All you have are close-ups and portraits and now the magazine of your dreams is asking for wide-shots for the cover and you don’t have any. What do you do? It’s frankly a disaster put it that way but it’s fixable right, all you have to do is go back to that desert with the same crew and recreate the whole thing! We’re joking, this is why this tip is the last one because it’s the most vital one and whether you’re a landscape/nature or street photographer doing this will help you tell a story about the environment.

Having a range of angles helps you put together a sequence as we’re all lovers of story-telling by nature. Introducing your potential clients or models from our platform to the space you’re in, then focusing on the subject and ending with a detail about the shoot.

This is everything you need to know on how to prepare a photoshoot. Are you thinking about creating a new project? Post a casting and find the right models for it!

We had the honor of testing out a new remote shooting software called Shutter where you can team up with models from all over the world and shoot from the comfort of your own home or in our case, our office!

We used ModelManagement.com to find a model who was interested in our casting and we were able to shoot with Lucy from Bali who was incredibly lovely to collaborate with.

How does it work? Well, one of our team members who got to experience it will explain the whole process to you!

How does it work?

“First I had to arrange the shoot with a date and correct time because we were from different time zones so we had to keep that in mind. I sent over a mood board (above) a day before and when the day of the shoot came I logged on, started a session, and entered in Lucy’s unique ID and so it began!”

“The interesting thing about the app is that although I could see Lucy, she couldn’t see me but we chatted anyways, she showed me some of the outfits she had prepared based on the mood board and showed us her location (back garden) where we would be shooting!

This was a great way to know what and where to start so we chose the red dress with the corner of the garden as our first shooting point. Lucy set up her tripod and we started shooting, she was a natural at posing so I didn’t have to direct her too much but as she couldn’t see what the composition looked like, I had to make sure it was on point at all times. Below I will show you the before and after photos from the shoot and they will all be edited differently because we all don’t have the same editing style.”

remote-shooting-software-

remote-shooting-software-2“The app has a lot of great features as a premium member I was able to change the exposure, temperature, and focus of the camera. In the beginning, I played around with this feature to get the hang of it and it worked wonderfully to my advantage. There’s also a function where you can switch which camera you’d like to use, front or back. I found the front very helpful for portraits. This is a before and after of a selfie shot, we took during the shoot.”

remote-shooting-software-3

remote-shooting-software-4

“I love how the photos turned out, I think the magic really happens in the editing process, you can choose to crop, rotate and change it to black and white and the possibilities are endless!”

remote-shooting-software-5

remote-shooting-software-6

“We also switched to a second outfit from her layout of clothes and decided to move the tripod to another location, closer to the house to catch the neutral tones. I took a lot of photos but the great part about Shutter premium is that you have unlimited storage so that was the least of my worries, we tried many poses up until Lucy’s cat decided they wanted to be involved too!”

remote-shooting-software-7

remote-shooting-software-8

“A lot of people are adding grain to their photos so it was interesting to try it out on this photo and see the results. After editing the photos you are able to upload them onto the Shutter app for the model to download also, whether you take your time editing or need a deadline you’re able to create one for yourself. It’s also important that you and the model both have up-to-date phones to be able to download the app and so you can maximize your use of all the features!”

remote-shooting-software-9

remote-shooting-software-10

“I really enjoyed using Shutter and would use it again for remote shooting, it’s fun and a great way to be able to go to other countries to shoot without having to buy a plane ticket!”

As you can see this remote shooting software is an incredibly useful tool and a great way to build up your portfolio by any means. What’s stopping you? Try out Shutter today but before you do, you’ll of course need a model so you can find one on ModelManagement.com. Happy shooting!

In this post, she will explain how to create a fashion editorial, a kind of guide that will help you create an editorial from scratch, teaching you what elements you should have in mind, as well as how to submit your work to get published. Take note of the tips!

Create the concept of the editorial

First of all, we must start with an idea, a concept, or a story. For publishers, it is important to be clear about what we want to convey so that the result reflects what we have in our heads. To do this, we will do a search for references, to create a mood board or briefing.

The mood board or briefing is a document in which written or visual references for a project are attached as a reference. This is usually divided into the following sections: inspiration, acting, makeup, styling, and light. These are the basic sections that make up a mood board, there may be others such as references for the type of model, color palette, cinematographic, literary or musical references, location, etc.

  • Inspiration is about a set of photographs that reflect how you would like the publisher to be, the aesthetics and the vibes, so to speak, that your publisher would have. This section is very important as it will make your team understand what you are looking for.
  • The acting, as its name suggests, would be how you want the model to behave in front of the camera, what emotions do you want it to convey, or what poses.
  • In makeup and styling, we will add makeup and outfit references that we would like to have as a reference when creating the editorial.
  • In the light section, we can add references of types of lighting that we will use in the case it happens in a studio for example, or if we require some type of artificial light.

These sections make it easier for you to present this mood board or briefing to a makeup artist, a stylist, or a model and for them to understand what you want to get from that shoot. You can even present this mood board to a magazine so that they can give you a pull letter if the project is of interest to them. A pull letter is a document where the magazine certifies that it will publish that project, this document opens many doors, especially for the stylist when it comes to knocking on the door of big brands or showrooms to lend her clothes for the publisher. The pull letter is a peace of mind knowing that this work is going to be published.

Once the mood board is ready, we will go search for a team. It is important that the team gets along and enjoys working together, that they understand the idea and know-how to defend it with their work.

Time to shoot the fashion editorial

One of the most important points of a publishing house is the model. And you will wonder why? Well, the model is in charge of making the reality what only exists in your head, the selection of models is very important since it will totally mark the course and result of the publication. For this, you can go to platforms such as ModelManagement.com to find your ideal model through casting. Doing so is very simple and will give you a very wide range from which to choose your perfect model.

Once we have all the equipment and the ideal model, the day of the shooting arrives. It is very important to take into account during the shot, the photographic coherence. It is very important that, within your idea, of course, you always try to obtain shots of all kinds, general shots, American shots, medium shots, portrait, of each look, then in post-production, we will choose the photographs, but it is important that you take all the material possible. Take risks, try planes, colors, textures, lighting… today, everything is invented, but you can always make a difference with your photographs, which will help you a lot to be able to get a prestigious magazine to publish you.

Show the results

Once the shooting is done, you will have to select and edit the photos. As I mentioned before, it is important that you take a wide variety of shots, you must remember that in the end, we are talking about a fashion editorial so the garments must look good. I personally usually choose between 2-3 photos per wardrobe look. All this, I organize it in a pdf, giving credits to the team and the garments.

Once you have your document, you can start searching for journals and submit it as what is called ”submission” in which journals publish your work for free if it fits with the aesthetics of their journal. Above all, do not despair if you receive negatives, the world of magazines is complicated, we are many and all trying to create the best and the most innovative. Patience and perseverance, and you will get a magazine that publishes your work. Have fun and never stop creating!

All photographers know that feeling when they press the shutter. We’re used to seeing the world through a small window, a viewfinder.

We learn to understand and almost predict what’s going to happen. In this case, it is time to learn how to do Boudoir Shootings like a pro.

When photographers take a picture they don’t do it with their hands, not even with their eyes. A photograph is taken with the whole body.

When you see the model through the viewfinder you know you have it, that the photo is good, that it produces sensations and emotions. And that, in the end, is what photography is all about, the feeling, in Boudoir shootings is no different.

So in the end, photography is an exercise of empathy. Even more so when you work with models. That’s why in this post, we will talk about Boudoir, that style of photography that needs more respect from the photographer.

Understanding Boudoir Photography & Shootings

Boudoir was nothing but a room where women talk about their intimacies. But it was the Marquis de Sade who popularised this space in his book Philosophie dans le boudoir (1795).

Since then, the concept of Boudoir has been used in branches such as photography, painting or drawing and in the background it maintains the essence of women and their intimacy.

Boudoir photography is about accompanying women in those spaces where they feel free, beautiful, and empowered; where they can feel sexy, without fears or taboos.

So what is really important for this type of photo to represent feminine beauty is to make them feel comfortable at all times.

A great example of Boudoir photography is the work of photographer David Bellemere. He manages to connect with his models on a personal level. He has a great capacity to transmit his ideas to them and achieves high quality and beautiful photos.

However, there are photographers who don’t understand what it takes to take such pictures. They don’t have the knowledge, experience or finesse to take them.

This is why we explain here the best practices when doing a boudoir photoshoot.

This is not Boudoir

Let’s start by clarifying something basic: Boudoir Photography and shootings are not about seeing naked women, period.

Avoid being the photographer no one wants to work with by being reckless and wanting to lead your models into uncomfortable situations.

Here are some tips you can use:

Speak up first

Successful boudoir shootings depend on good planning. It’s always good to talk to your models first and explain how the session will go, what you expect from them and above all, listen to their point of view.

You should pay special attention to how they feel about being in lingerie or half-naked in front of a stranger and you have to make sure you know their limits and don’t overstep them.

Avoid creating uncomfortable situations

We, photographers, know what a picture will look like even before we shoot it. You can always give your models ideas to make their posture better, to make the light look prettier or to achieve that expression that you think will become a great photo. However, it’s up to your model to decide whether or not she’s comfortable with what you’re proposing.

If not, don’t insist.

Flow with the shooting

The best thing that can happen on a photoshoot is that things flow naturally. This means that your model is comfortable, that she feels good and this will surely help you be more creative and get better pictures.

Respect

It may seem obvious, but you have to start by respecting the models. So don’t touch them, don’t be imprudent and don’t ask them to do things they don’t feel comfortable with.

Surely most photographers will say they are on the Internet for leisure and fun, others will say that it is necessary to complete their daily tasks. However, for entrepreneurs and freelancers, the internet is a place where they can close deals and make business.

Visibility is the starting point in a photographer’s career for generating contacts and then customers. Clients help businesses grow and bring in more customers. So it’s worth improving your visibility as a photographer, don’t you think?  In this post, we explain what visibility is and how to easily increase it.

Photographers Visibility

Visibility for photographers, what’s this?

If we are talking about digital marketing, visibility is the ability of brands, companies or professionals to reach and be seen by as many users as possible. In addition, the aim is for these users to be within the target audience. That is to say, that they belong to the group of people that we believe can hire us.

So if we can reach more people, we’ll have a better chance of contacting potential customers. But how can you do that?

Organic vs Paid

Your visibility can be organic (free) or paid. On one hand, organic includes all the actions you can do and share for free through your networks. For example Instagram posts, Facebook posts, Youtube videos, blogging, etc.

On the other hand, we have paid visibility. By this, we mean advertising campaigns that we can do through Google ads, Facebook ads (which includes Instagram), and many other platforms that offer them.

You may be wondering which one is best for you. Well, that depends. You have to learn what each one is for and how you can include it in your strategy.

Why is Visibility Important to Photographers

Here are some basic ideas about this:

Organic: the visibility you get as a photographer by sharing any photo, video, article, tweet or content on your social networks. The reach of these posts depends on the number of followers you have and the number of times it is seen, commented or shared.

It’s often said that it’s free, but you have to take into account the time it takes you to plan and produce the content you share. In the end, time is money, isn’t it?

Paid: is the visibility you get when you pay for what you publish to be seen by more people than you have within your networks. The reach depends on how much money you invest.

The great advantage of paid visibility is that you can always segment who will see your ad. This tool is very powerful because you can direct your communications to the people who are most interested in hiring you. The people that really matter.

Okay, that sounds great. But visibility for what?

Advantages of having good visibility as a Photographer

Have you ever wondered why influencers make so much money? It’s all about visibility. They can reach millions of people with a publication. This is very useful when you think of it as a sales tool. It's all about Visibility in photography

Applying it to small entrepreneurs or freelancers drastically improves the attraction of new prospects (potential clients) and then helps turn them into clients.

So the first thing to keep in mind is not only to get likes and followers but what do you want them to do after interacting with your content. For example: go to your website, fill in a contact form, make a purchase, ask for a quote, etc.

You are probably wondering if this is for you. Short answer: Yes, it is.

My talent as a photographer is enough, right?

Sorry, but in most cases, it’s not. There are millions of people doing the same thing as you. Some of them have knowledge of marketing tools and sales strategies.

That’s why you see some very successful photographers on social networks who may not be very talented. They are not excellent photographers but they are excellent at selling their work. That’s where you have to go. You have to learn to sell your work.

At this point, you may think it’s very complicated, but in reality, it’s not. Here are some tips you can apply to start gaining visibility and turn strangers into customers.

My talent as a photographer is enough for visibility

Stop using a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

Leave the excuses and get to work! Having influence in a niche and living from photography is possible. You can start by:

1. Having a plan

This has to be the first point you consider. If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re hardly going to make it. Having a plan means understanding your goals and creating a plan to achieve them. There is no perfect way to do it, but when you start, 2 things can happen:

You get it right: then it’s been worth it and you’ve achieved your goals in full or in part.

You don’t get it right: you learn that what you’ve done so far doesn’t work and that maybe you need to change something to make it more effective.keep learning for more visibility

2. Don’t stop learning

The world is moving fast and things that worked one year ago may not be valid today. If you really want to be successful, you must acquire new techniques and knowledge that you can apply to your strategies. Don’t settle. Keep going!

3. Experimentation

Again, there is no magic formula that always works for everyone. Every professional must find a way to achieve his/her goals. However, there are ways to speed up the process. Experimentation works pretty well on just about everything.

Try new things. Experiment, analyze, and correct your mistakes. But most of all, don’t stop trying.
