Born in Venezuela, Séneca is an external financial director for SMEs. She has lived in Barcelona for seven years, but at seventeen she moved to Europe and has also lived in Ireland, England and Germany. Intelligent, passionate and above all, a fighter, she has been pursuing for her great professional dream in the world of finance for two years with the creation of her first company.

How did you get interested in creating your own company?

After working in different companies, I felt that I had not quite found my place. My parents were always very conservative on a professional level, very hard-working people… but are not a family of entrepreneurs or businessmen. I have studied a lot and my plan was always to work in a multinational company and have a long professional career there. I think it’s good to work in a multinational at the beginning of your career and for a while, because you can learn how a company is structured. After this experience, I believe that the secret lies in transferring the knowledge acquired in big companies to the small ones, who can be your client.

After I finished my studies, I worked in a consulting company and I liked it a lot, but I realized that it was not quite my thing. Later I worked in other companies, of all kinds, big and small companies, but I kept feeling that I was not in the place that I really wanted to be. So, I was bold enough and I started to work as a freelancer after a long time meditating whether to dare to do it. The secret is to go for it with all your strength.

What was that impasse like?

I dared to leave the company I worked for after consolidating my first client. I wasn’t making a lot of money, but it did give me enough confidence to start my own project. A month after quitting the job, the pandemic hit our lives… but even this and the difficult times, I never regretted the decision.

At the beginning, I did not imagine how difficult the path would be. It has been a difficult and sacrificed journey. It is also a lonely road. But I do not regret. Currently I am very happy, and everything is getting better and better.

What is your company about?

I give financial support to companies. Create and analyze budgets, how companies close financially annually, plan the strategy for the next year… I help companies in the search for financing, consolidation and make reports that show business health, cashflow…

For the last four months, I have also been recording training courses on YouTube and it is something that I am passionate about. I love teaching and communicating, and I want to dedicate more time to their creation. Finance courses help people who have created a business to manage and understand it. I had a hard time putting myself out there at first, but I feel like I’ve improved a lot since then. As a businesswoman, videos offer confidence and show my personality and knowledge to clients.

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Séneca Noguera

How much time do you dedicate to your company?

A lot. At the beginning I spent practically all my time at work, having very little time for enjoyment. Little by little I am understanding that I also must have time to enjoy, quality time for myself. I have had to force myself a little to lower my self-demand, have more patience and take care of myself and my time a little more. I dedicate all my effort to my business, but I also must live the moment, have fun and enjoy the free time…

What are the advantages of being your own boss?

Freedom. It is true that I work a lot, but I know that I also add much more value to my work than working in a big company, where I feel that I am only a small part of the gear and therefore the value that I can contribute is much less. Now, being my own boss, I decide how much dedication and how much value I want to give to a project… And of course, the other advantage is my time management. Recently, being autonomous allowed me to travel to Venezuela to spend three months accompanying my father before his death… I can also live wherever I want. I wanted to live near the beach, and I have achieved it by moving to Lloret de Mar, where I have a much lower rent than in Barcelona, which allows me to save and invest more money to my company.

What is the most complicated thing?

Loneliness and responsibility, it is all on me. Also, not being able to go on vacation or being afraid of getting sick, because if I’m not working there is no one who can do the job… The next step I want to achieve is to start having a team and delegate functions.

When your father dies, just during the process of creating your first company… What was your management to move forward?

Obviously, that event changed me and my live forever. I used to live thinking about productivity above all else, in an obsessive way, I would say. At that time, I also had a very exhausting client and I decided to cancel the client so that I could focus on my father, because I couldn’t do both things, taking care of the client and my father, at the same time. When he passed away and I returned to Barcelona, I was determined to be the same ultra-productive Séneca as before, but I couldn’t. My body didn’t allow me to be that productive because I just wasn’t the same person I used to be. This whole process made me Séneca 2.0.

I learned to relativize time. If I have a goal, I will achieve it, I am sure, but I’ve learnt that it doesn’t have to be immediately. I am learning to take it easy and give myself space to heal. If you are OK, believe me, clients begin to arrive. You must be in good mental condition to accept projects and be good at it.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a business?

I would recommend doing it little by little. My process was slow, it took me a year, from when I first thought about it to when I made it happen. It is also important to be aware that it will be a learning and a continuous improvement. No matter how many studies, how many degrees I had, when I started my new business, I didn’t know many things, I had to learn a lot. At first you won’t have very good clients, but you won’t be either the best at your field and you’ll make mistakes, but you’ll learn, and you’ll be a little better every day. It’s also good that it’s a slow process, your head needs that time to be able to assimilate everything you’re doing and the changes you’re facing.

Your relationship with modelmanagement.com also started as a business relationship…

That’s how it is! I first contacted modelmanagement.com through LinkedIn. I have done a lot of networking through social media, and I contacted to offer them my services as CFO. Finally, an opportunity arose, and we began a professional relationship after meeting Andreas.

How did your photo shoot come about?

The first time I met Andreas, it was as if we had known each other forever, we liked each other so much… When he proposed me to do a photo shoot, I thought it was a great idea and, also, I could use the professional images for my own website. It was perfect.

seneca_modelmanagementPhotographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Séneca Noguera

Have you modeled before?

Never! I must admit that at first, it was a bit difficult for me. I was a little embarrassed because I had never modeled and for me it was something new and the truth is that before the shooting. However, the reality is that there were five hours of session that flew by. Andreas made me explore and bring out different Sénecas that I’m not normally use to in my day-to-day life. Normally I am the professional Séneca and the truth is that there are many more. It was very special to remember them and to externalize different parts of myself.

What advice did Andreas give you?

It was very funny because Andreas quickly realized how controlling I can be with myself. I was so surprised that he saw it so quickly. But little by little I took the pressure and nerves off me… He helped me imagine scenes, to put myself in a situation, to focus on the moment, and I began to feel more and more comfortable, and it was a wonderful experience. Working with Andreas is incredible, he makes you feel calm, self-confident, and authentic. I loved it and I am so grateful for the time we shared together.

Anna is many Annas. Teacher, nutritionist, model, singer… But when we ask her to choose a main profession, she tells us that there is none, that she is multifaceted and it is not possible, nor does she want, to be pigeonholed. Anna, above all things, is unpredictable and faces her life moved by passion and doing exactly what she really wants.

She speaks and expresses herself very well, she has experience speaking and showing herself in public. During her career she has done dozens of interviews in castings, auditions and she has had a successful passage through the Miss World Spain contest. In this interview, Anna shows us that she is self-confident, restless and passionate, as well as very sweet, respectful and smiling.

Who is Anna?

I don’t consider myself as a unique person, because I have many hobbies, many things that I like and I feel that I live several lives at the same time and that is why sometimes I don’t have time to do everything I would like to do.

I am a very natural girl, who does not hide from anything and I’m a continuous learner, I always like to prosper, I don’t like to settle down and I need the adrenaline of trying new things… Challenge myself and see if I can improve myself, is something I love.

Every time I get it, for me it is very satisfying and I always look for a few more doses of those moments. That’s why I love to sing, to model, to dance, to act… and to educate.

anna_modelmanagement

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Anna Aznar

What gives you the most adrenaline?

Singing makes me feel very good, it allows me to express many things that sometimes it is difficult for me to say, besides, I think that my feelings come out very well through the songs. I love it… And I should do it more, I should spend more time singing. Being a model also makes me feel great and, although I don’t work as a model the hundred percent of my time, since I’ve been working with modelmanagement.com I am always immersed in some jobs or projects. Teaching fulfills me a lot as a person and I also learn a lot from others. Each little thing completes me a lot in its own way.

Not everyone likes to do many different things at the same time…

It is true, many people prefer to practice a single profession or many people are moved only for one hobby. I need much more, I am insatiable in this aspect. My own students are surprised that, besides being a teacher, I am also a model who also posts videos singing on YouTube… And it’s a shame because this ideology is imposed by society. They have, for example, the figure of a teacher, as a very intelligent person and a bookworm, as a person who only likes to study… I only believe in perseverance, if I like something I won’t stop until I get it. This is my vision of life.

anna_modelmanagement

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Anna Aznar

Everything you like has to do with being exposed to an audience.

It’s true, I don’t like being hidden. It is clear that when you are a model it is because you also like to be seen, you seek to feel recognized with what you are doing. Yes, everything I have done has been showing myself to the world.

Having a nice physique, has made you experience uncomfortable situations?

Yes, of course. Like, comparisons between the physique of women, for example. Or when someone is surprised to see that I’m a smart girl, as if because of my appearance I had to be dumb… Some people think that being pretty and intelligent are not compatible adjectives for women. We must change this superficial vision.

anna_modelmanagement

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Anna Aznar

What is the hardest part of being a teacher?

When you have doubts when solving a question, or knowing how to manage uncomfortable situations with your students.I think that young people nowadays are very susceptible and sometimes managing their emotions is not easy. They are called crystal generation because they quickly become offended or demoralized.

And what about singing, how did it appear in your life?

It all started during my childhood, when I was eight or nine years old. There was a program on TV “Eurojunior” that I loved, I even auditioned! I used to sing a lot at home and my mother told me that I sang very well, but of course, I thought she was flattering me because she is my mother… But over time I also studied music theory and piano. Later I was chosen to sing in a musical, but I was studying nutrition and I chose to study. Currently, I am immersed in a project for a new song that will come out in a while.

What about your musical inspiration?

I have always loved “La Oreja de Van Gogh” and its first vocalist, Amaia Montero, is one of my favorite singers, without a doubt. I really like her personality and I think that my way of transmitting the songs is very similar to hers and our voices are quite similar, as well.

anna_modelmanagement

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Anna Aznar

At what stage of your life does modeling appear?

It all happened when I was very young and happened a bit by chance. A modeling agency in Reus was holding a beauty pageant down the street. I saw it and signed up. I went through phases until I won. At that moment I realized that I liked it, so I decided to join the agency. For a while my extracurricular activity was to go to the agency and learn photography, protocol, makeup, nutrition… And all that helped me a lot to learn and make the leap to international agencies. Over time I signed up for different castings where I did very well, to the point of being second in Miss World Spain.

How was the experience in Miss World?

The truth is that it was a learning experience, especially on an emotional level. This is a very demanding contest, you not only have to be physically perfect, you also sleep very little, you have a lot of pressure and there are moments of great tension. All these experiences have helped me grow, strengthen and enrich myself as a person.

Do you feel pressure to achieve perfection?

I like how I am, I’m not perfect but I’m don’t want to change or to please someone.

I don’t want to get closer to some specific canons imposed by society. Beauty is very subjective, it goes by fashion, so what matters most to me is being true to myself and it is important to know that, whatever you do, it is impossible to please everyone, so I see no point in pursuing perfection.

anna_modelmanagement

Photographer: Andreas von Estorff    Model: Anna Aznar

What advice would you give to a girl who is starting out in the modeling world?

I would tell her to follow her heart, that if this is her passion, she has to pursue it, but to never drop out of her studies. I would advise her not to get carried away by comments that are harmful or related to the appearance and weight of a person. The world is full of colors and for one agency you can be the best model of the catalog and for another, you can not fit in at all. Also, do not be badly influenced by anyone in this sector.

How did your relationship with modelmanagement.com start?

The first contact I had was participating in the Fresh Faces contest, where I was a finalist. After that experience, I signed up for different castings and I have always been getting projects, castings, photo sessions… One day Andreas invited me to the Barcelona headquarters. When I met him, we connected spiritually in a very magical way.

How was the photo shoot with Andreas?

Really fantastic. Andreas told me that he wanted some natural photos, without a lot of makeup, she wanted to show who I really am. He wanted to portray Anna, not a character, and he did it! Andreas made me feel very comfortable. Between shots we talked and he gave me some advice… He even asked me about my complexes and photographed them! Despite being my complexes, he portrayed them by embellishing them. Now I even like them when I see the photographs. It was wonderful. I came home feeling very fulfilled and amazed by his professionalism.

What would you highlight as the best characteristic of modelmanagement.com?

The website has enormous advantages over other agencies, in addition to being a global and online agency that brings you closer to any fashion professional from anywhere in the world with only a click. Years have passed and it is a wonderful tool for people in the world of modeling and acting, also for all those people who would not fit into the typical prototype that was established at the time. It is an agency fully open to all concepts of body, beauty, age… Since I discovered them at the age of sixteen, I have never stopped working on projects.

In addition, you have also participated in some Instagram live videos working for the agency!

That’s how it is! Taking advantage of my knowledge of nutrition, I have done some very interesting live videos and this has allowed me to show not only my facet as a model but also to contribute knowledge. I have also made videos about makeup… All of this makes me feel complete. In addition to giving me visibility, of course!

If you are starting out in the modeling industry you have to keep in mind that it is very important to know how to do your job quickly and efficiently. For this, we want to give you some tips on how to model for photoshoot.

Tips For Models Before A Photoshoot

First of all, it is very important to know what style of modeling you want to do. Nowadays, the modeling industry is much more inclusive than a few years ago, therefore, any model profile can do any project in the industry.

Once you are clear about what style of photography and projects you want to do, look for inspiration such as fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle, Bazaar; online clothing shopping websites… And try to copy all the poses in front of a mirror.

These first two steps are essential before any photoshoot so that you can start posing easily in front of the camera even if you are inexperienced. Keep in mind that the supermodels that appear in magazines have had many years of hard work, and as in any industry skills are learned with experience.

Once you start working for different brands, magazines, projects, or photographers you will know much better your angles, the different shots that exist, and what style of photography is sought after in different styles of modeling.

Communication before and during the shoot is essential. Before the shoot, ask if you need to bring anything special so you can be sure that you are fully prepared and ready, do your hair and makeup, and get started. Also, ask them to send you the mood board so you can start practicing different poses that might work with the style of photography they want to do.

Arrive early for the shoot so you can be relaxed and not nervous. As soon as you arrive get down to business and take the opportunity to talk to the team to get to know each other better and make things easier.

Normally they always play music so you can feel more comfortable and let yourself go during the photoshoot. If they don’t play music and you feel more comfortable with it, don’t hesitate to ask the team if it would be possible. It’s a team effort so they will be happy to provide you with all the comforts to make you feel more relaxed and the result will be a success!

During the photoshoot, don’t hesitate to ask the photographer what shot they are taking. Depending on where they are focusing you can move more the face, arms, hands, or the whole body.

As in any industry, each professional works in a different way, so ask if they prefer you to pose on your own or if they want to give you pointers on what style of photos they are looking for. They usually have some inspiration shots with them so they can follow what the client is asking for or what they have in mind.

In the modeling industry, you always have to be professional but don’t forget to enjoy the photoshoot. With time and hard work, you will gain more confidence and attitude in front of the camera. That’s why we recommend that you don’t stop practicing your best angles in front of the mirror and collaborate with different photographers in order to gain experience.

This was everything on how to model for photoshoot. Now that you are ready, start applying to castings to get your first modeling job!

Working as a model is like in any other industry job, you have to be consistent and take it seriously. For aspiring models, one of the main concerns is how and where to find modeling opportunities in order to start their career in the modeling industry and what are modeling agencies looking for when seeking new talents.

The most common and simple way to find a job is to look for an agency that represents the model. This way, the agency commits itself to promote the model’s profile in the different castings that come in and for it keeps a 20% commission of the jobs that the model gets.

What are agencies looking for in a model?

The modeling industry has evolved and is becoming more diverse and inclusive. Companies looking for profiles for their ads, photoshoots, or projects want real, unique, different, and talented people and this traslates to what agencies are looking for nowadays.

Barcino Management, our official partner, says that in their case they are looking for “more than models”, as their motto says. All agencies, and in particular Barcino, in order to have the freshest and most current profiles for their clients, always update their database according to the needs they find in their clients’ briefs.

“The industry has evolved, and we agencies are increasingly looking for profiles that are more peculiar, unique, and different because the industry is becoming more inclusive.” says Andrea Gayoso, Director of Barcino Management.

Barcino Management what are modeling agencies looking for

Therefore, models who want to be in the modeling industry and choose to belong to an agency have to keep in mind that what is currently sought after in 2021 is to be different, attract attention, have talent and attitude.

Something very important that agencies value in the profiles they already have in their database is that they must be active, be aware of all the emails and messages sent by the agency, and commit to the offers they accept. “With the new technologies, the client asks more and more from the models. They have to be quick to answer and efficient in sending the necessary material. That’s why we value this very much. We want to have models in our database who are committed to their work and who work hand in hand with us; this is essential to guarantee a good job,” says Andrea Gayoso.

How is the process of creating a modeling casting?

It must always be taken into account that all modeling castings have had a previous process of preparation and organization. In the offer, the client always specifies what kind of profile they are looking for: what the model has to be like physically, what particular characteristics he/she has to have, what is the attitude they are looking for, what he/she will have to do… All these specifications help the agency to find the profiles that are most similar to what the client is looking for.

what are modeling agencies looking for

Afterwards, the agency sends the proposal to models that fit the profile together with the material they will have to submit for the casting. If the model accepts, he/she will have to send all the requested material in the specified period of time and wait if the client chooses him/her.

It is very common not to be chosen in the castings since the client is always looking for a very specific profile with which to explain the storytelling of his project. However, models will always have to block those dates until the agency informs them if they have been chosen or not, or if the production dates are approaching.

Where to find modeling jobs?

Modeling jobs can be found through an agency, but thanks to technology it is now possible to find work on secure digital platforms such as ModelManagement.com. These allow the model to work as their own manager to apply to the offers they like the most.

ModelManagement.com can be an extra for the model as he/she can be in an agency and at the same time on the platform looking for other modeling projects.

Online projects are increasingly present in the Modeling Industry. The online modality has allowed professionals to connect with models from all over the world, increasing the number of results and improving time efficiency in projects.

Jacob Fisher 3D Artist/Animator/Producer at a company called Sparrow-Seven in Washington, DC, USA is an example of a professional who has had a favorable experience doing an online project. Despite not being a photographer or involved in the modeling industry, the online projects have helped him get work done for the company he works for.

online projects in the modeling industry

Sparrow-Seven is a company dedicated to creating real experiences for clients building affinity between brands and consumers. Sparrow-Seven has already used ModelManagement.com for some of the photoshoots they’ve needed, but this time, because of the Covid-19 situation and the project they had in mind, they wanted to get day-to-day photos of models for a machine learning project. So they used the platform to create an online project and get the necessary material.

For the project, they chose 12 models through ModelManagement.com from around the world. The benefits of machine learning having a large number of images is that the more images and the more diversity it collects, the better the software can learn and the better results can be obtained.

“For this project, we were looking for most relaxed, real-world photos of models, instead of the normal posed, studio shots. To accomplish this, we used the ModelManagement.com platform and we were able to go direct to the model.  We could target specific locations, ethnic diversity, skin types, body shapes, hair color, and more.  We had complete control over the selection of models we wanted to use and were able to talk directly to the model throughout the entire process” says Jacob Fisher.

online castings in the modeling industry

Online projects achieve different results, says Jacob Fisher. “We let the model hold the camera in their hands and take control of the process.  This enabled the model to look at their own photos more critically, were they getting the look they wanted, the right light, the right angle, etc. It empowered the model in a new way”.

In addition, being able to scout worldwide gives the professional a great deal of freedom. “There’s a magic in model selection through ModelManagement.com that’s hard to describe. You are looking for something without knowing what it is. But when the entire world is your casting network, it’s pretty easy to find it” says Jacob Fisher.

In online projects, communication between the professional and the model is very important in order to achieve the expected results. ModelManagement.com offers a private messaging service to make communication and connection secure and easy.

Jacob Fisher says he is happy with the result and will use ModelManagement.com again in the future for both online and offline projects.

If you also want your vision to come to life, sign up now as a professional and create the project you have in mind.

Model: Sabela Álvarez

Sabela Álvarez Cebrián is a Spanish doctor and fashion model. She was runner-up in the Miss World Spain contest and won the Miss World Barcelona contest. At the age of 17, she left her hometown, Palma de Mallorca, to study in Barcelona and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. As a model, she has worked for brands such as Guess, L’Oreal, Revlon, Rosa Clará, and has paraded on several catwalks in Spain and Germany. Sabela defines herself as a resilient, responsible, optimistic, and hard-working person.

What motivated you to become a model?

I’m quite an artistic person: I’ve been playing the piano since I was a child, I like to paint… and I even did theatre. Modeling is another artistic facet that I am passionate about.

What started as a hobby, ended up being a profession. As I was studying Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, I could not afford to work in a fixed job with a daily schedule. That’s why fashion was great for me because I could do catalogs and sporadic photo shoots on weekends and some afternoons off. It was a way to have some financial independence, without affecting my studies.

We understand that a career as a doctor takes up a lot of study hours. How do you combine your professional life as a doctor and fashion model?

With a lot of discipline, effort, dedication, and, above all, time management. It is also true I was studying something that I am passionate about, so studying was really a pleasure.

What made you specialize in medicine, and what motivated you to go down this path?

In addition to my medical degree, I have a degree in Biomedical Sciences. So my field is biomedical research. And more specifically, Molecular Oncology, where I finished my thesis a few months ago. I was doing onco-haematological research in Germany and I did a traineeship in New York. I have always liked the more ”scientific” side of medicine. In fact, as a child, I wanted to be a scientist. I found in medicine the link between my passion for science and my vocation to help others.

What is your motivation as a physician in a career that is currently very tough because of what is happening with covid-19?

My main motivation, I suppose, is the same as that of other healthcare professionals: to fulfill our vocation. We spend almost half our lives training, so being able to put all this knowledge into practice and to translate it into being able to cure, to heal, or to save lives; motivates you to keep fighting.

We know that you were working in hospitals during the pandemic. What was it like working as a doctor?

Working on the front line of the battle against the pandemic has been and continues to be an extremely hard experience. The first few weeks were a great challenge, as we did not have adequate personal protective equipment and we were very afraid of contagion.

We barely used homemade plastic aprons that we made ourselves, double surgical masks, and gloves. There were no predefined protocols either, and all the doctors, from the youngest to the oldest, studied and learned every day because it was something new and little was known about it. Fortunately, now we have protective material, and every day we know more and more about the pathophysiology of SARSCOV2, but that does not mean that we are still working under a lot of pressure. Although most of our patients are people with comorbidities, we also have young patients.

What are you working on now and how do you see the situation in medicine?

At the moment I combine emergency room duty for the Pandemic with my MIR preparation. All the doctors and the rest of the health professionals are very saturated. However, it is not all COVID19. There are still heart attacks, cancer diagnoses, and many other diseases… And it is very serious that surgical operations and other interventions are being canceled because of the current serious situation.

Do you think that your modeling career will accompany you throughout your life or will you stop working as a model to dedicate 100% of your time to your work?

As long as I can combine it, I will continue to do so. It’s true that a modeling career usually dies at the age of 30, but the industry is getting more and more on diversity every day. We have learned that wrinkles are also beautiful, that more real and less ”perfect” models empathize more with consumers, so now we can find models of all ages. On the other hand, medicine is very demanding, but I hope I don’t have to give up modeling 100%.

We know that you have always made a lot of references to your medical career during your modeling career. What message do you want to convey?

The message I want to convey is that in life, with perseverance, discipline, and love for what we do, we can achieve all our dreams.

Do you think that being a model, in the media, in contests has helped your professional career as a doctor to make yourself known?

Being a model has helped me to make myself better known. Not only myself but also my profession. So far my platform has been Instagram, where I have been able to spread science and health. But I would love to be able to dedicate myself to the disclosure on TV, newspapers, and other digital media.

What would you tell someone who is just starting out in the modeling industry?

I would recommend, first of all, learning and training. To be a professional model, first, you have to train yourself: learn how to pose, how to model depending on the type of show, how to act in front of the camera… and all that requires learning.  Being a model is born, but also made. The best models in the world have been to a modeling academy at some point in their lives. Training is essential.

And what would you say to someone who is just starting out in medicine?

I would warn them that it is a very hard and very sacrificial profession that will take up a lot of their personal time. But if you still want to be a doctor, go ahead because it is a beautiful career. To take away someone’s suffering, a mother’s smile to cure her child or save a life is an indescribable feeling.

You were on the verge of being the Spanish representative in Miss World, how was that contest?

It was a great experience that I will always carry with me. In Miss World, unlike other beauty contests, they look for a complete and integral woman, so there are different tests. Besides being a finalist in almost all of them (”Artistic Talent Test” -where I played the piano-, ”TopModel Test”, ”Public’s Favorite”); being the Winner of ”Beauty with a Purpose” – solidarity project, where I presented my personal involvement in the global pandemic COVID19: working on the frontline as an ER doctor, disseminated information regarding the coronavirus, answered doubts, raised awareness about the importance of preventive medicine through my social networks and supported the #yomecorono campaign not only by publicizing it but also by helping to raise funds-, was a great reward for my work and the most beautiful thing about the contest.

What did you like the most and the least?

What I liked most was to use my impact as Miss to give visibility to the work of all health workers, to denounce the terrible conditions we initially worked in and to reaffirm our vocation and love for our work. Also the beautiful friendships I made; especially with my roommate, Romina, Miss World Bizkaia.

What I liked the least was that I fractured my foot in the Sports Test of the pageant. I went through a lot of pain. I knew that if I went to the hospital they would put my foot in a cast, put me on crutches, and therefore disqualify me. So I endured the suffering inside during the contest, with poise, elegance, and poise… I could not walk, I had a black foot…but with a good shot of corticoids and powerful anti-inflammatories, I walked and even paraded, with high heels!

I think about it today and I don’t believe it. Fortunately, as a doctor, I always take my first aid kit with me when I travel, just in case someone needs something, but I never thought that during the contest I would have to use it on myself, and even less so under these circumstances.

Are they very strict with the physical aspect or do you think that talent is essential to be able to win these contests?

Although a model and a Miss have to lead a healthy lifestyle, take care of their appearance and give an image; a model is a mannequin, so her physique must adapt more to the classic model profile or to the demands of the sector in which she works. To be a Miss is basically to be an ambassador for social causes, a representative of a territory, a person with oratory, artistic talent, and knowing how to be in different situations; so the physique, although it is important, is not so important. Above all, they look for health, avoiding underweight and overweight.

What motivated you to want to participate?

The motto of Miss World is ”beauty with purpose”, where they look for a complete and integral woman. Beyond physical beauty, we are looking for a woman with a social conscience, who has something to say and contributes to society. For me it was to take advantage of the influence that a beauty title generates, to be able to contribute something to society, especially to the most vulnerable.

What did you learn from this experience?

I learned that unforeseen events and difficulties can arise in life that condition and harm you. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to it. That’s why in life the most important thing is how we manage it. My motto is ”In the end, everything turns out well… And if it does not turn out well, it is not the end yet”, which alludes to the fact that there is no evil that does not bring something good and that every day is a new opportunity to transform obstacles into a driving force to overcome them and to fulfill our dreams and goals.

The digital age has advanced and expanded job opportunities in every industry. To get scouted now in the modeling industry, technology has allowed models and professionals to promote themselves through social networks and platforms such as ModelManagement.com to find work and promote their projects.

How to get scouted in the Modeling Industry?

In order to stand out in the modeling industry today, it is very important to take care of your personal branding and be very consistent in all the promotional opportunities we have. In the past, it was important to go from agency to agency to be able to show your profile, work, and be known, but now with technology, you are just a click away from letting people know who you are.

  • Social networks are a good tool to show your work and make your profile known. However, it is important to keep in mind that anyone can create an account and impersonate someone else. For this reason, use social networks primarily to give voice to what you do, follow professional’s verified profiles, and keep up to date with everything that is happening in the industry, this way your chances of getting scouted will increase.
  • ModelManagement.com is the easiest and safest platform to make yourself known and meet other professionals with the assurance that their profiles are real. The platform allows you to apply to castings for modeling agencies, photoshoots, or projects where models are needed. In addition, you can contact these professionals through direct messages and build your professional network there.

The modeling industry has also expanded job opportunities by creating online projects or virtual photoshoots. From the perspective of a professional model, Nadin M. Clofen tells us about her experience working for a vision/machine learning project where they scouted different models and profiles to create software that would detect the face of these people during the day.

“My job was to take pictures of myself for four days with different outfits. I took pictures of myself in selfie mode, with the phone’s rear camera, during my day-to-day life: practicing sports, reading, smiling, having a coffee, sitting down… The truth is that it has been quite a curious experience.”

Many models are trying this new way of working, Nadin says that it was her first time and that she would do it again. “It has been a different experience. I hadn’t considered the option of working online as a model until the opportunity arose. When you work as a model, you work with your image and offer it to be photographed. In my case with this project and thanks to the advances in technology and the quality of my phone, I was the one taking the pictures. I would definitely repeat the experience.”

The importance of safety in these online projects also plays an important role. “I only accepted it because it came through ModelManagement.com and I knew it was a real job. If it had been sent to me by e-mail or social networks I would not have accepted it. These job offers are good opportunities to work, increase projects and earn extra money, but you have to be sure of the offers you accept.”

The most important thing to carry out this style of projects once you have been scouted is communication with the professional, Nadin says. “In these online projects, it is important to know what the client is looking for to obtain the desired result. What material the model needs to have at home, what the goal of the project is, what kind of results the client expects, are some of the questions to keep in mind.” In addition, ModelManagement.com offers the possibility to talk to the professional through the platform in a private chat to ensure that everything is safe and written in one place.

According to the importance of communication, knowing the full vocabulary of the industry is essential to ensure that you understand all terms and conditions of the job. LearnMatch is the perfect tool to learn the vocabulary in a fast, simple, and fun way. Download the app now on your phone, improve your English in the industry at any time, and take a step further in your modeling career.

A new way to work as an online content creator and model. “I would never have accepted an online job as a model, but now I would do it again. It’s been convenient, easy, and simple.”
